Myprecious Siamese & Oriental Cats
Frequently Asked Questions
Myprecious? What does that mean?
Myprecious is our GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy) prefix. We were granted the use of this prefix in 2009, and since then, every cat that we have bred has held the Myprecious prefix.
How many breeding cats do you own?
So, here at Myprecious, we currently have 3 girls and 1 boy, all on the GCCF active register.
Annie, Stretch and Livia are the girls, and Charlie is the boy.
Do you have other animals?
Yes!
We have a Jack Russel x called Jack, and a Staffie called Buster. Both are over 11 years old, and are extremely good with the cats.
We also have 3 ex feral cats, Bob, a domestic Tabby, and George and Mildred, brother and sister black and white cats.
Are your kittens GCCF registered?
Absolutely yes. Every kitten goes to their new home with the GCCF registration certificate and their own pedigree.
Can I have an un-neutered cat from you?
Sorry, no. None of my kittens are sold un-neutered due to the unpresidented amount of cats and kittens in rescue centres.
It is my duty not to add to that increase.
Do you sell outside of the UK?
Absolutely.
If a kitten is chosen by someone outside the UK, we get the rabies vaccination at 12 weeks old. We then have to wait a further 21 days before the kitten can travel.
As we neuter/spay at 15 weeks old, it means that during the 21 day waiting period, we can get that done too.
Health Cerificate is issued up to 10 days before travel.
What genetic checks do you do on the parents?
All of our cats are FIV/FeLV tested before they are mated, as a matter of routine. We do not have open stud, so our boy doesnt have visiting girls.
We also have a PRA n/n record on each of the cats.
Are your kittens health checked?
Yes. At 1st vaccination they are fully checked by the vet, including weight, which is recorded on their cards.
The same at 2nd vaccination.
Then, when they are scheduled to be neutered/spayed, they are checked pre-op.
And lastly they are checked a week after their spay/neuter.
What do you feed your kittens?
We wean our kittens on 'Natural Instinct Kitten paste', which they adore, and we also have 'Smilla kitten biscuits' left down for them to graize on.
Can I visit before I choose?
Yes, we encourage you to visit at least once. The kittens can be viewed via video link first, then once they have had their 1st vaccination they can be visited here.
I want a friendly kitten - are yours well socialised?
From birth we handle the kittens. We check their health, cut their claws, worm them, handle them in preperation for the first vet visit.
They have a room of their own upstairs until their 1st vaccination, then they are let loose in the living room!
What age do your kittens leave home?
Between 16 and 18 weeks, after their 4th health check and spay/neuter.
